Make Your Synthetic Wig Look Amazing in 4 Easy Steps

Posted by

We all know that wigs made from real hair look the best, but let’s face it, those things can be pricey as hell! However, if you want to appear on your TS date as your femme, fabulous self, you need to have your hair on point. Don’t worry, even if you have a synthetic wig that looks like a ratty mess you can still look great. All you need to do is follow these steps and your old wig will look shiny and new in no time.

Make it soft and shiny

You probably have a bucket somewhere in your home, so grab it because you will need it. Put a capful of fabric softener into it (yup, you can forget about the conditioner) and add enough water so that you can completely submerge the wig in it. Keep in mind that you should add more softener if your hairpiece is longer. Stir the water and then just forget about your wig for five days. Therefore, if you have a big date coming soon, it would be wise to do this one week earlier.

Make sure it is nice and dry

Take it out of the bucket after five days and lay it out on a towel to dry. You do not need to rinse it, just wait until it is damp and not drippy and then put it on a wig stand.

Brush through it

When it is completely dry, brush through it with a wig brush. If you don’t have it, you can use a regular one with wire teeth. Keep in mind that plastic teeth will create static, and you will end up going on a date looking like Einstein. Although you can find wig brushes in a lot of beauty stores, let us tell you a little secret – wire pet brushes work just as well and are often way cheaper.

Finishing touch

Spray your wig with a dry shampoo or sprinkle it with talcum powder. Wait a couple of minutes and brush it again to disperse the powder and keep your wig from looking dusty or chalky. Some hair will probably fall off during the brushing, but it shouldn’t be too bad. All you have to do now is choose the right outfit and you will be ready for your big date.
